The are times when earphones or headphones are just not what you need, when sharing your sound becomes the priority. You’re on the beach or at the park with your mates, and you want to set the tone. Luckily for us Nixon makes some quality audio accessories just for these times.

Introducing the TPS.

It’s a lightweight, 398 grams, self powering speaker unit, made from extruded Aluminium with a sand resistant grill. Or if you’re in the US Aluminum….   The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides 6 hours of playtime from 1 hour of charging, which is handled through a USB cable. Another feature we find attractive is the ability to daisy-chain a second TPS via the extra jack found in the cable storage compartment. Double the sound and better stereo in one easy step.  We did this in the office, and couldn’t believe the sound output. Makes you want to buy 10 just to hear the effect. Did we mention the bass trick?  Put this little guy on it’s back and the bass will “expand” when placed on a hard surface, especially a glass table.

There is a reason that this series has taken over the world. Best selling, immaculately turned out and with miles of style. You simply can’t go wrong with a 51-3o. So what’s so special about the Rubber version? It’s not only the awesome look of the thing, but something you need to feel. The softest silicone you can imagine. Feels like baby seal on the skin, and will have you wearing your watch no matter the weather conditions!

The crystal has been upgraded with new anti-glare tech and is still the hardened mineral crystal you might know from previous installments. That new anti-glare has a slight blueish look to it, and in our humble opinion adds to the overall look of this masterpiece of time & motion.

What’s in a name? Well the diameter of this guy sits at around 51mm, and the watch is rated to 30ATM, which is watch speak for 300m. Voila and hey presto! 51-30. This one features the tide function which is super easy to set, and shows the tide range on the small sub-dial. We suggest one of the White or Black / Gold if you’re not sporting 20/20 eye sight, as the “cool” understated colours will take some squinting to see properly. Hey, watches are supposed to be passed from generation to generation, so keep it mint for when you can’t see anymore, and pass it to little Johnny or Susie when the time comes!

Plan B is in South Africa. This legendary skate brand is set to shake things up on the local skate scene. So we hit them up for some words on their brand and why it is what it is. Let’s dive straight in shall we?

Swindle: In what way is Plan B different from other skate brands?

Plan B: We’ve tried to keep a consistent message, and have been building on the legacy throughout. Our journey has been an interesting one, and people are always looking for that hook, or substance behind a brand. We try not to force ourselves onto people and try and do this for the right reasons.

Swindle:  Is it correct to say that, in (Paul Rodrigeuz, Torey Pudwill, Pat Duffy, Colin Mckay, Danny Way, PJ Ladd, Ryan Sheckler etc) Plan B have the strongest skate team in the world?

Plan B: We’re fortunate that we could boast such a healthy line up. The guys are super committed in everything they do, and that definitely shows. We believe that the team are super  important, especially for a skate company. Those are the guys living it every day.

Swindle:  Where does Plan B sit in the South African skating world?

Plan B: We’ve been available in the country on and off over the last couple years through various distributors. We’re able to bring more to the table now, with the distribution deal we have with Element. We’ve also put Khule on the team, who hails from KZN. So we will try and build our presence organically in this market.

Swindle: What does the future hold for Plan B?

Plan B: It’s looking very bright at the moment. We’re introducing some apparel into the SA market, and the response has been good. The boards have been received very well, and we’re getting some great support from the skaters and stores. Skate is on an upward path at the moment which is great for all concerned.
